The Via Venaissia is a dedicated cycling/walking path of 14 km between Carpentras and Jonquières. It runs along an old railway route and is very easy walking whilst offering great views of vineyards and mountains. It can be joined at various points, for example in Sarrians or Aubignan, but our recommendation is to go to the old station at Loriol du Comtat (which is now Bistrot de la Gare).
Go through Aubignan and at the first roundabout after the Carrefour supermarket take the right turn to Loriol du Comtat (D126). The old station is about 1.3 km down this road. There is no sign so look out for the car park on the left. Walk in either direction on the VV (turning left takes you to Carpentras in about 45 minutes) and return for lunch, dinner or sundowners at the café (booking recommended, 04 90 35 69 71 closed Monday).
