Other than the mighty Rhone, the area is a bit short on water features but there is a nice beach and small lake at Mormoiron, a pleasant drive of less than 20 km to the south-east of Beaumes. If coming in from the north there is a sign to Plan d’Eau to the left just before you hit the centre of Mormoiron. Follow the signs for about 1.5 km across a one-way bridge and then crossing the D184. The lake is safe for swimming and there is a short circular walk. The area is good for picnics but there is also a very nice and very affordable restaurant, La Cahute. Might be crowded on hot week-ends.
