Aix-en-Provence

Just over an hour to south by autoroute this famous, old university town is lovely for a stroll around. The Cours Mirabeau in the centre, dating from the seventeenth century, is a nice shopping street and the Deux Garcons café is worth a visit (mist spray over the outside tables very valuable in August!). Parking at Carnot underground multi-storey is a convenient 5 minute walk to the centre. On Saturday, there is a market along Cours Mirabeau.

  3. Charcuterie Olivier, only mornings. 26 Rue Jacques de la Roque
  4. Parks – Parc de la Torse and Parc Jourdan
  5. Walk : Barrage de Bimont, Saint-Marc-Jaumegarde. On D10 to Vauvenargues. Walk across the dam, great views of Mont Sainte-Victoire. Easy parking.
