Séderon and Izon Circuit

As an alternative to going to Brantes on the Vaucluse side of Les Baronnies this takes you up into the hills on the Drome side.

Also start by going over to Sault and then head north but, instead of going left after Aurel, continue on to Montbrun-les Bains and then Séderon. The climb is spectacular but if you are interested in even more then go beyond Séderon, turn right on the D542 and then left on the D170 for Eygalayes and follow the circuit round to Izon-la-Bruisse; (we did this anti-clockwise but it doesn’t much matter). The scenery is absolutely stunning. You will also pass a couple of memorials and a cemetery related to the execution of Resistance fighters during WWII.

It’s mostly single track, mountain road but in good condition and quiet when we were there in July.

Come back down on to the D542 and turn left but instead of going back through Séderon turn right on to the D546 and make your way along and through the lively town of Buis-les-Baronnies. From there it’s straightforward to continue on to Malaucene and Beaumes.
