Brantes

View from café Suzette

Brantes is a lovely “village perché”, worth a walk around and offering excellent views over the eastern side of Ventoux. It feels almost Alpine.

There is a reputedly good restaurant, the “Auberge”, which unfortunately we were unable to submit to critical analysis because we hadn’t booked.. We did have crepes and drinks at the tiny “Suzette” café however which has one small outdoor table offering the best view in Provence.

The real joy is the round trip though. Go out via Sault and Montbrun and see the lavender fields (in summer) and come back via Malaucène and Suzette. The scenery is spectacular.

We found the best lavender, pictured below, at Aurel just north of Sault, in early July 2020.
